She Didn’t Leave Construction. She Expanded What She Builds. Now, SOMEFUN Is Redefining Team Experiences in Malaysia.

What if the most powerful investment your company could make isn’t in technology, but in people?
In a world obsessed with speed, Lorraine is proving that slowing down might just be the ultimate competitive advantage.
She’s not just creating events. She’s creating moments people remember.
Before SOMEFUN existed, Lorraine spent years in the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor, managing projects, timelines, and execution. Long before boardrooms and blueprints became part of her professional journey, however, she was already doing something she loved: leading and facilitating educational programmes since her high school days.
For nearly a decade, she immersed herself in leadership development, event facilitation, and project management. Along the way, she realised that her passion for building extended beyond structures and into something equally meaningful, creating experiences that bring people together.
Then, she asked herself a simple yet life-changing question:
“Why can’t I combine everything I love into one career?”
That question became SOMEFUN.
Today, SOMEFUN is a creative event curation platform that designs customised experiential workshops, team-building programmes, and corporate learning experiences tailored to every client’s goals, budget, and needs. It’s not about offering one-size-fits-all solutions. It’s about creating meaningful experiences that inspire people to connect, collaborate, and grow together.
More Than Workshops. It’s About Human Connection.

At a time when AI can generate ideas in seconds and information is available at our fingertips, Lorraine believes there’s one thing technology will never replace: genuine human connection.
And that’s where SOMEFUN stands apart.
“People can easily find ideas online,” Lorraine shares. “But execution is another story.”
It’s one thing to discover inspiration. It’s another to transform it into an experience that people genuinely enjoy, remember, and learn from.
That has become Lorraine’s greatest strength.
Whether she’s designing creative workshops or facilitating team-building sessions, every programme is intentionally crafted to encourage collaboration, communication, and connection.
Because, at the end of the day, businesses aren’t simply investing in activities.
They’re investing in their people.
In the Age of AI, Human Experiences Matter More Than Ever
Ironically, the more digital our world becomes, the more valuable human interaction has become.
Today’s workforce isn’t just asking for better salaries or flexible working arrangements. They’re seeking meaningful workplace experiences.
People want to feel connected.
Companies want stronger workplace cultures.
Teams want opportunities to communicate beyond emails, meetings, and screens.
That’s exactly why experiential learning continues to grow.
While traditional team-building programmes often involve outdoor adventures and physically demanding activities, Lorraine realised that modern workplaces require something different. Not every organisation wants to send its leadership teams climbing mountains or running obstacle courses.
Sometimes, meaningful conversations happen inside a meeting room.
Sometimes, the most powerful team-building exercise is simply giving people permission to reconnect.
And that’s what SOMEFUN creates, experiences that make people feel seen, heard, and connected once again.
From 10 Participants to More Than 5,000 Lives Impacted

What started as an idea has now grown into something far bigger than Lorraine ever imagined.
SOMEFUN has successfully conducted team-building and experiential learning programmes for nearly 60 companies across Malaysia, serving both multinational corporations and SMEs from various industries.
To date, Lorraine estimates that the organisation has engaged more than 5,000 participants through its programmes.
And perhaps her proudest milestone?
Facilitating sessions for nearly 300 participants at a single time.
It’s a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose and when meaningful experiences are designed with people at their centre.
Leading Across Generations
Lorraine doesn’t believe leadership means having all the answers.
She believes leadership means recognising the strengths within every individual.
Her team spans multiple generations, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha, and rather than seeing generational differences as challenges, she sees them as opportunities.
Every new perspective matters.
Every idea deserves a seat at the table.
Her younger team members regularly contribute fresh concepts and creative insights that eventually become part of SOMEFUN’s programmes.
Because great leaders don’t create followers.
They create environments where everyone gets to contribute.
It’s a philosophy deeply embedded within the company’s culture.
Building the Next Chapter
Lorraine’s journey continues to evolve.
In addition to her work in construction and experiential learning, she became an HRDC-accredited trainer last year, a milestone that opened another exciting chapter in her entrepreneurial journey.
That achievement led to the launch of JLX Academy, a learning platform that combines creativity, management expertise, and structured training programmes designed for individuals and organisations alike.
Together, her ventures reflect a shared mission: to empower people through meaningful experiences, continuous learning, and purposeful growth.
Lorraine didn’t leave one industry to pursue another. Instead, she found a way to bring together the different passions that have shaped her journey, building projects, developing people, and creating spaces where meaningful connections can thrive.
Slow Down. Reconnect. Grow Together.

In a culture that celebrates productivity and constant movement, Lorraine hopes people will begin to see something differently.
Taking time for yourself isn’t a luxury.
Taking time for your team isn’t a distraction.
It’s an investment.
An investment in workplace culture.
An investment in meaningful relationships.
An investment in building organisations where people genuinely enjoy growing together.
Because sometimes, stepping away from the screen for two hours can create conversations that last far longer.
SOMEFUN isn’t simply organising workshops or events.
It’s creating spaces where people reconnect with themselves, their colleagues, and their purpose.
And perhaps that’s exactly what modern workplaces need most right now.
Human connection.
