Why Malaysia Needs More Skilled Technicians Than Ever
Success doesn’t always begin with a business plan. Sometimes, it starts with a single opportunity that changes everything.
For Zainal, founder of QBiz Tech Academy, it started with repairing mobile phones at home. What began as a side hustle has grown into a thriving academy that’s empowering Malaysians with practical skills, entrepreneurial opportunities, and the confidence to build their own futures.
Today, QBiz Tech Academy isn’t just teaching people how to repair smartphones. It’s creating career pathways, nurturing entrepreneurs, and shaping the next generation of skilled technicians in Malaysia.
A Passion Project That Became a Purpose

Long before QBiz Tech Academy became a recognised name in mobile phone repair education, Zainal was simply doing what he loved.
He repaired mobile phones while working full time and never imagined that teaching would become his life’s mission. In fact, becoming an educator was never part of the original plan.
That changed in 2016 when he was invited to teach mobile phone repair skills to 300 participants under a government initiative in Sarawak. Standing before hundreds of students for the very first time was intimidating, but the experience would prove to be life changing.
The positive feedback from participants opened his eyes to something bigger than technical expertise. He realised that knowledge becomes even more powerful when it is shared.
That moment planted the seed for what would eventually become QBiz Tech Academy.
Building a Dream From the Ground Up
In 2018, Zainal decided to take a leap of faith.
Before launching his own academy, he enrolled in a mobile phone repair course himself. Surprisingly, he wasn’t there to learn the technical skills. Instead, he wanted to understand how successful training programmes were structured.
He studied the syllabus, teaching methods, and student experience.
Initially, he considered collaborating with an existing academy, but a simple conversation with a friend changed his perspective.
“Why build someone else’s dream when you can build your own?”
Those words became the turning point.
Determined to create something meaningful, Zainal launched his very first mobile phone repair class in Sabah. The response exceeded all expectations. Thirty students enrolled immediately, making the programme an instant success.
For someone conducting his first independently organised class, the pressure was enormous. Students were investing their hard earned money and expected real results.
He delivered.
The first class was successful. Then came the second. Then the third.
There was no looking back.
More Than Teaching Technical Skills
Today, QBiz Tech Academy offers structured programmes designed for beginners and aspiring technicians through Basic, Semi Advanced, and Advanced courses.
However, what makes the academy stand out goes far beyond classroom learning.
For Zainal, education doesn’t end when a class is over.
Students become part of an active community where they receive continuous mentorship and technical guidance. Questions are answered. Problems are solved. Learning continues long after graduation.
Recognising that mastering technical skills takes time, students are also allowed to repeat classes free of charge, giving them the opportunity to strengthen their understanding and gain confidence through repetition.
This student first philosophy has helped QBiz Tech Academy build something invaluable in today’s digital age.
Trust.
Many students discover the academy through Google, TikTok, Facebook, and recommendations from previous graduates. What convinces them to enrol isn’t aggressive marketing. It’s the academy’s growing reputation for producing results.
Trust has become QBiz Tech’s greatest strength.
Transforming Beginners Into Industry Professionals
Mobile phone repair is a specialised skill that cannot be mastered overnight.
According to Zainal, even months of training cannot cover every possible technical challenge within the industry. That’s why his programmes focus on building strong foundations while encouraging continuous learning and hands on experience.
Students are taught that success comes through practice, consistency, and real world problem solving.
And the results have been remarkable.
Many graduates who started with absolutely no technical experience have gone on to establish successful repair businesses. Some now own larger operations than their mentor himself, while others are earning impressive monthly incomes through their newfound skills.
Their success stories are a reflection of the academy’s mission.
It’s never been about fixing phones.
It’s about changing lives.
Creating Opportunities Beyond Traditional Education

At a time when many young Malaysians feel pressured to pursue conventional career pathways, QBiz Tech Academy is proving that practical skills remain one of the most valuable investments for the future.
The demand for qualified mobile phone technicians continues to grow alongside our increasing dependence on technology.
Every smartphone represents an opportunity.
Every repair represents a skill.
And every skill represents the possibility of financial independence.
This is precisely why Zainal remains passionate about providing accessible, industry relevant education for aspiring technicians and entrepreneurs across Malaysia.
The Future Vision for QBiz Tech Academy
Despite the academy’s success, Zainal believes that this is only the beginning.
His long term vision is ambitious.
He aims to transform QBiz Tech Academy into a recognised centre for technical excellence that delivers industry aligned certification programmes while providing students with practical exposure through real world training environments.
Future programmes are planned to span between three and six months, combining classroom learning with extensive hands on industry experience.
Students will spend approximately 30 percent of their time learning theory and 70 percent applying their knowledge within actual mobile phone repair environments.
The goal isn’t simply to produce technicians.
It’s to produce competent professionals who are ready to enter the industry with confidence.
But perhaps the most exciting part of his vision lies beyond education itself.
Zainal dreams of building a complete entrepreneurial ecosystem where graduates can eventually launch their own businesses under an established franchise model.
From student to technician.
From technician to entrepreneur.
From entrepreneur to industry leader.
That is the future he hopes to create.
Building Malaysia’s Next Generation of Skilled Talent
Like many entrepreneurs, Zainal continues to navigate challenges involving manpower, management, and business growth. Yet every obstacle has only strengthened his commitment towards his mission.
What began as repairing phones from home has evolved into something far more meaningful.
QBiz Tech Academy is building careers. It is creating opportunities. More importantly, it is helping Malaysians realise that success isn’t defined by where you begin, but by the impact you’re willing to create.
Sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity to change a life.
And sometimes, that opportunity begins with learning a skill that opens countless doors.
For Zainal, this journey was never just about mobile phone repair.
It has always been about empowering people to believe that they can build something extraordinary with their own hands.
And this is only the beginning.
