Some businesses sell products. Others create experiences that stay with you long after you’ve left.

Julyana Scent Studio does both.
Founded by Jeanie, the visionary behind the brand, the studio is redefining how Malaysians experience fragrance, transforming perfume from a luxury accessory into a deeply personal expression of identity, memory, and emotion.
But this journey didn’t begin in the world of fragrance.
It started with an audit.
Before becoming a certified perfumer, Jeanie worked in one of the most demanding industries imaginable. Long hours, constant pressure, and endless deadlines eventually led her to ask a simple question: What if work could smell a little sweeter?
A lifelong perfume collector, she found herself constantly recommending fragrances to friends. Yet one thing became clear: there’s no such thing as a perfect perfume for everyone.
That’s when inspiration struck.
Instead of helping people find their scent, why not help them create it?
During the pandemic, while much of the world stood still, Jeanie enrolled in a UK perfumery certification course conducted entirely online. Material kits were delivered to students’ homes while fragrance workshops happened virtually. What began as a small idea soon became something much bigger.
When restrictions eased, Julyana Scent Studio opened its first home-based studio. The rest, as they say, is history.
Today, Jeanie wears more hats than most founders can count—director, scent designer, instructor, accountant, marketer, and problem solver—all rolled into one.
And she’s still just getting started.
What makes Julyana Scent Studio different isn’t simply the perfume-making experience. It’s the philosophy behind it.
Every scent tells a story.
The studio offers more than 100 perfume ingredients, allowing guests to create fragrances tailored to their personalities, preferences, and life’s meaningful moments. Instead of following templates, customers are guided through an immersive journey of discovering what they genuinely love.
It’s fragrance with meaning.

One memorable customer returns every year on her birthday to create a brand-new scent—a fragrant time capsule representing who she is in that particular season of life.
Imagine collecting memories, one perfume at a time.
That’s the kind of emotional connection Julyana Scent Studio hopes to create.
Beyond workshops, the brand has expanded its vision through HYI Perfume / HYI Fragrance, a local Malaysian perfume label inspired by the Mandarin phrase Hui Yi, which means “memory.”
The mission is beautifully simple: great fragrances don’t have to come from overseas or carry luxury price tags. Malaysian-made scents deserve their moment too.
And if you think perfume is where the story ends, think again.
Julyana Scent Studio is stepping boldly into home fragrances, personalised scent consultations, wedding fragrance experiences, and bespoke signature scent creations designed exclusively for life’s most meaningful celebrations.
Your wedding scent? They can create that.
Your personalised home fragrance? They’ve got that too.
Your signature perfume that exists nowhere else in the world? That’s exactly what they’re building.
Perhaps what’s most exciting is their commitment to bringing Malaysian scents to the global stage.
Yes, even Nasi Lemak has made its fragrant debut.
The team recently created a Nasi Lemak-inspired scent sachet featuring notes reminiscent of pandan rice with subtle spicy accents—a playful yet powerful celebration of Malaysian culture. It’s proof that fragrance isn’t limited by convention. It can preserve heritage, spark nostalgia, and introduce Malaysia to the world in entirely unexpected ways.
For Jeanie, however, success isn’t measured by how many bottles are sold.

It’s measured by connection.
From corporate team-building workshops to personalised fragrance consultations and wedding experiences, every service is designed around one idea: creating unforgettable emotional moments through scent.
Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is refreshingly honest.
Building something new isn’t easy. Markets won’t always understand your vision immediately. Growth takes patience. Challenges are inevitable.
Most importantly, know who you are before building your business.
Don’t chase price wars. Don’t lose yourself following trends. Build something meaningful and stay true to why you started.
Because people don’t just remember brands.
They remember how brands make them feel.
As Julyana Scent Studio looks toward international expansion, one thing remains unchanged: the belief that scent has the extraordinary ability to preserve memories, celebrate identities, and bring people together.
After all, some memories deserve more than photographs.
Some deserve a fragrance of their own.
