Empowering the Next Generation of Creative Leaders: YAE! 11th Cohort Takes Shape
The National Art Gallery continues to strengthen Malaysia’s creative ecosystem with the launch of the Young Art Entrepreneurs (YAE!) Programme 11th Cohort, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to nurturing young talent in the arts and creative industry.
Officially commencing on 19 December 2025, the YAE! Programme is designed to equip emerging art entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and business mindset required to transform creative ideas into sustainable income streams. This year’s programme is implemented through a strategic collaboration with the Malaysia Design and Development Centre (DDEC), further enhancing its industry relevance and impact.
The 11th Cohort brings together 20 participants from diverse creative backgrounds, selected to undergo an intensive four-month entrepreneurship journey beginning in September 2025. The programme combines structured learning modules, creative product development, and real-market exposure, ensuring participants gain both theoretical insight and practical experience.
To further strengthen their entrepreneurial readiness, participants benefit from a three-month mentorship programme, where industry experts guide them in refining business strategies, branding direction, and marketing approaches. This cohort also uniquely blends new participants and YAE! alumni, encouraging cross-generational knowledge sharing and collaborative innovation in art entrepreneurship.
Adding vibrancy to this year’s initiative, the National Art Gallery will host Kontena Seni, Warna & Warisan at the Art Depot, National Art Gallery, from 20 December 2025 to 1 February 2026, open daily from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. The event will feature a range of interactive art workshops and creative activities, offering visitors immersive learning experiences and hands-on engagement with the arts.
A major highlight of the programme is the YAE! Open Day, taking place on 20 and 21 December 2025. This platform allows participants to showcase and market their artworks and creative products directly to the public, while also connecting with buyers, art collectors, and industry professionals opening doors to wider networks and market opportunities.
The programme will culminate in a Final Show scheduled for January 2026, celebrating the creative and entrepreneurial growth of the participants.
Through YAE!, the National Art Gallery aims to cultivate resilient, innovative, and future-ready art entrepreneurs who will contribute meaningfully to the nation’s creative economy.
