Affordable, Efficient, Proudly Malaysian Perodua Traz Redefines the Urban SUV Game

KUALA LUMPUR  As 2025 draws to a close, Perodua has unveiled what could be its most practical and people-focused SUV yet  the Perodua Traz. Priced from RM76,100, this new urban SUV is designed specifically around Malaysian driving habits, road conditions, and cost-conscious lifestyles.

Positioned above the Perodua Ativa, the Traz enters the competitive B-segment SUV space with a slightly larger footprint, stronger road presence, and a major emphasis on fuel efficiency and everyday usability.

Built in Malaysia, for Malaysians

Developed with an investment of RM563.3 million, the Perodua Traz is produced at the Rawang manufacturing plant with an impressive 95% local content reinforcing Perodua’s commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.

With a target of 1,900 units sold per month, the Traz is clearly aimed at young families, daily commuters, and long-distance drivers looking for maximum value without premium pricing.

Variants & Pricing (Peninsular Malaysia, OTR without insurance)

  • Perodua Traz X – RM76,100
  • Perodua Traz H – RM81,100
  • Perodua Traz H (Two-Tone) – RM82,000

Colour options include Cranberry Red, Electric Blue with Black Roof, Glittering Silver, Ivory White, and Granite Grey, with deliveries already underway.

Bigger Where It Matters Most

Dimension-wise, the Traz is noticeably larger than the Ativa:

  • Length: 4,310mm
  • Width: 1,770mm
  • Height: 1,655mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,620mm
  • Ground Clearance: 210mm

One of its biggest highlights is the massive 471-litre boot, making it one of the most practical SUVs in its class — perfect for balik kampung trips, grocery runs, or weekend getaways.

Engineered for Efficiency

Powering the Traz is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine (2NR-VE) paired with a D-CVT gearbox, producing 105hp and 138Nm of torque.

According to Perodua, fuel consumption stands at 21.3 km/l, based on the Malaysia Driving Cycle. At the launch, Perodua CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad confidently stated that  under the right conditions drivers could travel from Kuala Lumpur to Penang for under RM35 in fuel costs.

Smart, Comfortable Cabin

Inside, the Traz delivers a modern and functional interior with:

  • 9-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster
  • 3 USB-C ports + 1 USB-A port
  • Rear air-conditioning vents
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Rear solid disc brakes (standard)

The cabin is designed around daily comfort, especially for rear passengers — a detail often overlooked in this segment.

Extra Perks for the H Variant

Opting for the Traz H adds premium convenience features such as:

  • Powered tailgate with motion sensor
  • Auto air-conditioning
  • Keyless smart entry
  • LED front fog lamps
  • Side mirror welcome lamps

While it skips adaptive cruise control, the safety offering remains strong for its price point.
