In a world drowning in fast fashion, one Cyberjaya couple is flipping the script proving that style can be affordable, sustainable, and insanely cool. Meet The Ahorro Shop, the thrift store that’s turning second-hand into first choice.
💡 From Street Hustle to Cyberjaya’s Thrift Revolution

It all started with Sarah and her husband affectionately dubbed the NASA Couple for their out-of-this-world hustle.
Back in 2017, with barely any capital and a ton of heart, they decided to stop chasing trends and start solving real problems.
Their mission? Make quality clothing affordable for families, students, and everyday people in Cyberjaya, a city often seen as upscale but where many still struggle with budget options.
“We just wanted to help people dress well without breaking the bank,” Sarah says.
Before their big break, the couple sold pre-loved clothes from the streets of Jalan Raja Bot a.k.a Vintage Night Market, scrubbing, repairing, and curating each piece by hand. Fast forward to today their dream has grown into a 2,200-square-foot thrift paradise in Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya.
🌏 Style with Purpose Not Waste
The Ahorro Shop isn’t just another thrift store. It’s a movement for sustainable fashion in Malaysia.
By upcycling and restoring pre-loved clothing sourced from developed countries, they’re saving the planet one outfit at a time.
Did you know the fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world?
Sarah and her husband are changing that, turning what others throw away into something worth wearing again.
And for those who truly can’t afford it, they created “Selam Bar” , a free section where anyone can pick clothes at no cost.
A community-first mindset that’s earned them love, loyalty, and tons of repeat customers.
📦 From Lockdown to Global Love

When COVID hit, many brands panicked. The Ahorro Shop adapted.
They took their thrift game online and sales skyrocketed.
Through Instagram, Shopee, Carousell, TikTok, and global resale platform Grailed, their pieces reached customers as far as the U.S. and Europe.
“COVID taught us that thrift fashion has no borders,” Sarah says.
Their Instagram page, packed with funny, relatable thrift-life skits, keeps fans hooked proving that sustainability doesn’t have to be serious to make an impact.
🧠 Family, Faith, and the Fun Side of Hustle
Running a business with two homeschooled kids might sound chaotic but not for this duo.
They call it “Sakina” , a calmness in chaos.
Their kids learn that work can be joyful, life can be meaningful, and success comes from patience, not pressure.
Sarah’s secret?
“It’s not about what you sell, it’s about how you fix people’s pain.”
And that’s exactly what The Ahorro Shop does: fix fashion’s waste problem, fix community needs, and fix how we think about clothing.
🚀 The Future of Thrift Is Here
The Ahorro Shop isn’t slowing down. They’re doubling down on online growth, building awareness for eco-friendly fashion in Malaysia, and making thrift the new normal.
So, if you’re tired of fast fashion and ready to thrift with purpose, swing by Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya, or check them out on Instagram @theahorroshop.
Who knows your next favorite outfit might just save the planet. 🌍
