Motorists travelling along the East Coast Highway and the West Coast Expressway (WCE) are being urged to plan their journeys carefully as traffic volume is expected to spike significantly this weekend.

According to a report by Bernama, daily vehicle numbers are projected to exceed 160,000 vehicles, driven by the end of the Chinese New Year holidays, the conclusion of school breaks, and the early arrival of Ramadan.

Peak Hours Expected in Late Afternoon

The busiest period is anticipated from mid-afternoon to late evening, with congestion likely to build up on major routes leading into the Klang Valley.

Unlike the staggered outbound traffic seen at the beginning of the festive season, this return wave is expected to be more concentrated as travellers head back to resume work and school routines.

To minimise delays, road users are advised to:
